My name's Rod from St. John's Newfoundland. I wanted you to know that my friends and I can remember the "Alphagetti Gobbler". I remember the TV commercials as a kid (I'm in my thirties now). We also tried to find a picture of the Gobbler online, but we were unsuccessful. We could get so little info on this that we even started to think that it was a figment of our collective imaginations. So it is comforting to know that there are others out there besides myself who can still remember esoteric Ad campaigns from the late 70's/early 80's. The "Alphagetti Gobbler" IS REAL. The Truth is Out There!! LOL!!

I've searched far and wide (the internet) for a pic of the Gobbler. I've even emailed the Hinez corp and asked them for some information on him but received no reply.

Okay guys, you hooked me in...I did a little further Googling...and at Sobey's yesterday I even bought a can - it's spelled "Alpha-getti". I have a theory - it seems the name alphagetti gobbler was used in association with some weird porn contest (I swear, I clicked on the link, got grossed out, and closed it quickly!), so it is possible that Heinz dropped the name and all associations with it. See what you learn when you term off your safe search? :) I still can't believe there is not a single pic on the web, though. Hopefully some really good artist will remember and post a sketch or something.

Even if the term was used for some porn contest, that's so obscure I doubt it would influence Heinz' decision to drop the character.

Keep in mind, the character was dropped a couple of decades ago.

I don't fault them for going in a different marketing direction, but where's the tribute to the Gobbler? Where's the screen caps, the streaming video, the homage to this magnificent beast?

I fondly and dearly remember the Alphagetti Gobbler commercial(s) from what must have been the 1980's.

I even use a phrase from it quite often. Whenever I want to blame someone for something I exclaim (in the same British accent that the one kid in the commercial used to say): "YOU'RE the Alphagetti Gobbler"

Sometimes people get the joke and other times they just look at me like I'm some sort of strange google-eyed monster with strange tentacles, or was it multiple arms and hands? Gee, gotta try to find me a picture of the Alphagetti Gobbler!

Mark, I've been using this expression like crazy these past few weeks and it's awesome. I too use the kid's British-like accent and exclain "You're the Alphagetti Gobbler!"

The kids love it, and those who get it appreciate it. The man who don't get it think I'm crazy, but I doubt that's anything new.

Hey guys, just a quick update. Alphagetti was originally a Franco American product,not Heinz. I emailed a rather long letter to Franco American, asking if they had any information on the alphagetti gobbler, but alas, I still have received no response from anyone. I'm beginning to think that someone doesn't want the truth about the alphagetti phenomena to come out! Is the truth really out there?

OK, so I'm not crazy.. We all have seen, at one point in our lives... The Alphagetti Gobbler. I just picture this monsterish creature with a huge mouth saying Gobbla-getti, Gobbla-getti.. There must be an archive of this creature somewhere..

That's all I can remember.

I not only remember the gobbler but a friend and I would spend an hour each day in grade 6 talking about it. Gobbly-getti Gobbly-getti, "So... Your the alphagetti Gobbler." I recall that phrase being said by some kid with an english accent in the ad. Why has this most important mascot been lost. I tried to convience younger co-workes of his presence in the past only to be given looks of disbelief.

There was a fat kid on my hockey team back in the day -

We called him the Alpha-getti

I remember this commercial very well and stubbed over this web site when tiring to look for the you tube link to describe it to a younger friend. I also could not find the Sit N Spin commercial I was looking for or a good! Boo Berry cereal commercial

Let's go back another decade or so. Does anyone remember the old Alphaghetti mascot "Alphie"?? He wore a purple shirt and had pointy ears. Everyone thinks I am crazy about this and google isn't helping me out.

Hi guys, I was randomly searching for the Alpha Getti gobler because when I was younger (8 years old) I was in the commercial with the alpha getti gobler. I have the commercial on DVD and I'll see if I can post it.
